On Monday, April 1st, part of Main Street in downtown Sheridan will close as Phase 2 of the construction work gets underway on the remaining 2 blocks of the 7-block project.

Main Street will close from Brundage Street to Coffeen Avenue, however the Main and Brundage and the Main and Coffeen intersections will remain open.

Although work on Main Street between Brundage and Loucks Street was done last year, the intersection of Main and Loucks was not worked on and that’s where construction crews will start.

WYDOT says the reason why Main Street between Brundage and Loucks will be closed to motor vehicle traffic, is because construction vehicles will be using that block to enter and exit the main construction zone.

If motor vehicles park between Brundage and Loucks and then later make a U-turn to leave, while construction vehicles are going in and out, that could create a safety liability.

Main Street between Brundage and Loucks will be open to pedestrian traffic.

The Main and Loucks intersection is scheduled to be completed in middle-May and when it reopens, the intersection of Main and Coffeen will close, as well as a portion of Coffeen between Main and Gould Street.

All construction work is tentatively scheduled to be completed in mid-August.

Work is also scheduled to be done this year on the Main Street bridge over the Little Goose Creek, but WYDOT says a time table has not yet been set, and crews are still trying to determine if the bridge will remain partially open when the work is going on, or closed completely.
