Sheridan County’s Commissioners have sent a Letter of Support for Bighorn Flying Company, LLC in association with Sheridan County Weed & Pest District, for the County Mosquito Management Program.

Bighorn Flying Company will perform aerial application operations over Sheridan County during the months of May through September of 2024.

Specific dates will be determined by mosquito populations and weather conditions.

In the Letter of Support, the commission said the program helps ensure the county has the fewest West Nile virus cases possible.

The aerial larvicidal treatment program has reduced mosquito annoyance and risk of West Nile virus for approximately 30,000 county residents and is widely supported by the community.

The county commission supports Bighorn Flying Company’s Congested Area Flight Plan for the program.

Killing mosquitos is absolutely the wrong way to do it. You also kill bees, benificial bugs, butterflies, birds, and the paint on your cars. Not to mention your lungs.

this is ludicrous…we are just adding poison to the entire ecosystem including our water…it all leeches and eventually drains into our water..

You are messing with the eco system. Each property owner could request it. Are our taxes paying for this? Are you really going to spray poison without discussion or comment? Come on commissioners…enough of behind closed doors decisions!

The failed four commissioners have recently learned that they can do anything they want, including rigging an election/selection process for filling a vacancy on the Board. The Republican Party tried to hold them accountable for their blatant Lawlessness…but they got away scott-free. Just like the disregard for the Law that’s happening in the rest of America, it’s now spread to Wyoming. And it affects All of Us, regardless of party. You may have liked their disrespect of the three nominees the Party sent them, that the commissioners rejected. But what about the next time they break the law. It might be something that you don’t like and negatively impacts your life. What then?
Disregard for the Law just promotes more lawlessness!

Covering the entire ecosystem with POISON. It’s bad enough that they drive down the alleys spraying without warning to residents, this is even worse.

Flight Plan?…it would be nice to have a local game and fish biologist, forest service representative, and weed and pest to all sit down together in on any future county commissioner mosquito control discussions. Not only the methods and places of application to be EXCLUDED from such applications of pyrethroid mosquito insecticide but also the correct protocols such as application time zones after sunset then possibly up to 2-3 hours before sunrise to allow the pyrethroid to break down before insects become active again. Bee Keepers should be notified in advance in order to cover their bee hives appropriately might also be advised Pyrethroid mosquito insecticide spray should never be sprayed over riparian areas because it is extremely toxic to fish or other aquatic creatures as it damages their nervous system and DNA then becomes untraceable after 48 hours No wonder we have trout swimming in circles.
