HUB on Smith Director of Operations Ryan Landis made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the changing dynamics of Sheridan’s seniors and the evolving programs needed to meet their needs.
The HUB on Smith has evolved over the last few years, from a senior center to a more community oriented organization. Although COVID-19 dealt a blow to the center, the team and its clientele pulled together and weathered the storm. Landis was happy to report that the numbers of visitors and members utilizing the HUB have not only returned but increased.

Years ago, the HUB on Smith adapted to the senior population when the Baby Boomer generation started to reach the age of 60; increasing programs and services to meet the need of the largest increase of senior numbers in history.
Now Landis and the team at the HUB are beginning to see Generation X taking advantage of the services. Landis sees this as an opportunity to think outside of the box to fulfill the needs and services desired of that generation.

As Gen-Xers begin to turn 60 and enter into a new stage of life, Landis said the HUB will adapt and evolve along with its clientele, while remaining the community organization the Boomers have come to not only rely on, but enjoy as their community center.
