During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Sheridan County Undersheriff Lieutenant Devereaux Johnson alerted the public to a scam taking advantage of a grateful community.

Sheridan Police Department Sergeant Nevada Krinkee tragically lost his life on Feb. 13, in the line of duty. A grateful community has been making donations to help his family during this difficult time.

Johnson said scammers have begun to make calls to people in Sheridan County taking advantage of a tragic event.

The Undersheriff has asked the public to report to the Sheriff’s Office if they have received one of these scam calls and recommends that people take their time when receiving calls such as this, as law enforcement organizations will not call residents at home and ask for donations.

A real benefit account for Krinkee’s family has been established at First Federal Bank and Trust. The public is invited to make checks payable to Karla Krinkee or FBO Nevada Krinkee and the team at First Federal Bank and Trust will ensure the funds are deposited to the account.

Checks can also be mailed to First Federal Bank and Trust PO Box 6007, Sheridan WY 82801 or dropped off at the branch location at 671 Illinois St. in Sheridan.
