JCHC Board Discusses Test Kits, More on COVID-19

The Johnson County Healthcare Center’s Board of Trustees held a recent meeting by telephone for their monthly regular meeting, and the main topic of discussion was the COVID-19 pandemic.
Infection Specialist Christina Duarte spoke about preparations the facility is making, acquiring personal protective equipment, and changes they have made to visitations to the campus.
She discussed the test kit issue, which they have managed to increase.
Duarte explains how they are making more tests, when there is a national shortage of them.
Public Health Officer Dr. Mark Schueler shared a realistic vision of the coming months.
Dr. Schueler said he expects to see outbreaks to continue over weeks and months in different areas and at different times, but feels the medical community has learned much, their skills are better, and they will be better prepared to deal with the issues surrounding the pandemic.
