The Sheridan Memorial Hospital is starting to run out of room for its surgical services.
Currently the surgery rooms are located where the original core hospital was, when it was built in 1954.
As medical technology continues to advance, there needs to be room to put all the new equipment.
Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty says the hospital needs to continue to grow, but with the way things are set up right now, the current location of the surgical services area might not be in a good spot.
“The space is land locked and we have a lot of needs and we have a 25-to-30 year horizon that we know if we’re going make an investment like we’re going to make, that it’s got to be with a look to the future, and future growth and trying to anticipate what those technologies and services will look like in the future.”
Among the recent pieces of equipment that the hospital has purchased and brought in include the Globus and Da Vinci robots.
