The 2024 Legislative Session kicks off on Feb. 12, and one of the priority issues for lawmakers will once again be property tax relief.
AARP has announced that at 4 p.m. on Jan. 17, AARP Wyoming will host a webinar in which the two chairmen of the Legislature’s Joint Revenue Committee, District 21 Senator Bo Biteman (R) and District 37 Representative Steve Harshman (R) will discuss proposals that will be debated during the 2024 session.
The webinar is free and can be joined by registering here. There is no requirement to be an AARP member to take part in the webinar.
According to a release, the one-hour webinar will be moderated by Wyoming Department of Revenue Director Brenda Henson who will talk about the impacts of recently enacted property tax programming, as well as proposals from the 2024 session. The trio will also take questions from the webinar audience before it breaks at 5 p.m.
“Our members have been incredibly tuned into discussions around property tax relief for the past three years,” AARP State Director Sam Shumway said. “In 2024, there are a number of new bills to address property tax relief and we thank the chairs of the Revenue Committee and Director Henson for helping us to understand these proposals.”
For more information, or to submit a question in advance of the webinar for the legislative leaders, email Tom Lacock at: tlacock@aarp.org.

The legislature should hear the calls for tax reduction in sales tax, as well. The legislature should pass a temporary one-percent reduction in the State Sales Tax. That will provide immediate and wide-spread relief to everyone in Wyoming. Bidenomics is crushing us and our leaders need to lower the tax burden wherever they can. Property and Sales taxes are way too high. Give us a break! Plz do something.
