A number of school districts in Wyoming were on high alert on Wednesday, December 13th, but it turned out there was no immediate threat.

The Buffalo Police Department and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation say a number of law enforcement agencies received 911 calls regarding a bomb threat at several Wyoming schools.

It turns out it was a swatting call, where the caller uses a spoofed number to hide their location, and tries to trick emergency authorities into responding to a fake situation.

BPD says a number of calls came into the Johnson County 911 center referencing Johnson County schools.

Schools in Newcastle and Upton were evacuated on Wednesday as a precaution, and everything was back to normal on Thursday.

The DCI says multiple schools in Wyoming have received emailed bomb threats directed at “every Wyoming school”, but there was no information to prove the threats had any validity.
