During Wednesday evening’s regular meeting, the Johnson County Hospital Board of Trustees voted to approve Phase III of their current construction project.

CEO Luke Senden explained to the board that administration had gone through the construction plan and made changes that would save money.

During the board’s meeting in October, Senden said Phase III would remodel the Home Health/Hospice area, nurse station area, the Obstetrics area, and ICU area.

Additionally, it will open up space for future growth in the facility.

The board had already approved roughly $1.5 million for long lead-time materials for the next phase of construction.

At Wednesday’s meeting the board approved the balance for the Phase III, about $4.5 million.

According to discussions, the total cost for all three phases of the construction project is just under $20 million.
