The cost for redesigning the front entrance, lobby and check-in area of the hospital was more than what was anticipated, but the Hospital Board of Trustees have given the green light to go ahead with the project.

The project will now cost almost $125-thousand, which is about $50-thousand more than initial projections were, when the project was discussed back in March.

Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty says the hospital foundation has approved funding the project and the earlier estimate was based off of concept ideas, but now more details have come in.

The goal of the redesign work is to give patients a better experience at check-in.

“The nice thing about that project is it’s really an improvement for the experience of the patients. Improves privacy, increases the flow of traffic and really does a better job of getting people where they need to be, more quickly and effectively. It’s a nice addition to the front there.”

McCafferty adds work will start next spring and take about 2 months to complete.
