A 26-year-old Sheridan Sheridan woman changed her plea to a felony charge at a hearing Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State,  Katelynn-Jean Hirchert pleaded guilty to the charge of felony theft. The plea deal recommends a sentence of 2 to 4 years in prison, suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation and that restitution be paid in the amount of $9,371.54. The plea agreement is non binding, meaning the Court, at sentencing, can reject the agreement altogether and the defendant cannot withdraw their guilty plea.  District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Office and scheduled the sentencing for November 16 at 9 am.

Hirchert was arrested by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office in April for transferring funds from an individual’s bank account into her account between June of 2022 and March 20, 2023. The charge of felony theft is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
