The Carnegie Building that houses a portion of Buffalo’s award winning Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum has been in need of repairs.
Executive director of the museum, Sylvia Bruner, made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to inform the public that the match for the first fundraiser to provide funding for repairs is coming to a close at the end of August.
The total estimate on all the repairs is approximately $600,000, about twice the museum’s annual operating budget, according to Bruner.
Thanks to the matching donor and the Johnson County Board of Commissioners, Bruner said work will begin within the next few weeks on portions of the building that need the most attention.
Although the first fundraiser has reached its goal, the fundraising for the repairs is far from over.
