The Sheridan area isn’t the only place that has seen recent bear activity.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says on Tuesday, August 15th, an adult male grizzly bear was captured for killing livestock on private land northwest of Thermopolis.
The bear was relocated to the Five Mile Creek drainage, about 41 miles west of Cody, and not far from the East entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
Elsewhere, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials have had to euthanize two grizzly bears this month.
The first was a 3-to-5 year old female with no cubs, who was accessing garbage stored in bear-resistant containers that were not secured, in the community of Big Sky, located northwest of Yellowstone.
The bear had also found unsecured food in a vehicle.
The decision to euthanize it was made because it had become conditioned to seeking food from unnatural sources, which creates human safety risks.
A few days later and not far away, another bear was euthanized for killing livestock.
The 20-year old male had been captured and relocated once before, for the same reason.
Montana FWP officials say the bear had significant tooth decay and when that happens, bears will sometimes prey on cattle as an obtainable food source.
Both bears were euthanized after consultation with the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Sad people cannot secure trash.
Its an open invitation for bears to get in trouble.

Because people can’t figure out how to secure their garbage the bear pays the price and heartbroken at two bears have had to be euthanized because people are too stupid to figure it out. 😡

Where is your sympathy for the people who have been ripped to pieces and eaten on by grizzlies?

Quit taking their land. We are invading their space and they are getting killed. Such a sad thing. Use common sense

So funny how folks from New York and Florida think they have all the answers on grizzlies. If they post up near the east gate with their favorite puppies I’m buying tickets to watch the appetizer platter disappear. Maybe even one of them for the main course.

for america’s wealthy who scream from the rooftops over climate change and lament the state of the environment , they are one’s degrading wildlife habitat with the trophy homes and ski resorts. all over the american west it is the view wrecking and habitat wrecking trophy ranchetts (like yellowstone club) that are making life difficult for grizzlies and other migratory wildlife. whilst energy development and it’s footprint are temporary, the aforementioned carnage on views and habitat will be there forever. gene robinson carson valley nv

Who is the animal? The defenseless bears, elks, wolves and bison or the people whom have no right encroaching on the land. Where excuse my language the hell is the NPS. Probably eating donuts and drinking coffee. This is the animals land. Get rid of the humans. Please don’t kill them. They are only protecting their land. I would call the NPS something but can’t write it and don’t get me started on the tourist’s who agitate them.

These grizzly bears should not have been killed for eating human garbage. Bears and all wildlife deserve their place on God’s earth. Just for eating human garbage does NOT make a man-killimg bear. Where is the punishment for the stinking humans who did not secure their food/garbage ?

So much ignorance, i live in northern Wyoming and have been a hunter & conservationist my entire life! One of the biggest mistakes was reintroducing the wolf, the wolves are destroying all other wildlife, a cougar & bear kill for hunger or protecting cubs & territory, a wolf kills for sheer pleasure & sport. The governor of Idaho recently notified the governor of Colorado that he better think twice about releasing wolves back in the wild in Colorado!
