Johnson County’s Commissioners have voted to approve and accept a new lease agreement with a landowner in southern Johnson County for an existing communications tower.

County Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connolly spoke with the commission, explaining the importance of keeping the communications tower on Tisdale Mountain.

The lease amount requested by the landowner increased from $100 to $500 per year, according to Connolly.

She said the county does not want to lose control of that tower near Kaycee to avoid gaps in the county’s communications coverage.
