cvannoyAt their Tuesday, June 20 meeting, the SCSD#1 Board voted to approve a new science course, Zoology, at TRHS. Colby Lynch, Principal, talked about why he felt the class would be a ‘win-win’ for both the students and the science department.
Lynch added
BHHS Principal Al Sparkman talked about the BHHS Boys Track team and their winning year at state track. He said although TRHS beat BHHS at regionals, but BHHS came back and took the state championship.
Brooke Johnson, Sukey Ross of Tongue River and Lee Zimmer Curriculum Director, gave a presentation about what the Middle School students had learned at the summer math camps.
Zimmer reported that the BHHS camp theme was pirates, and the students learned how to build a pirate ship and a bungee cord ‘walk the plank,’ using a Barbie Doll to demonstrate the concept. TRMS worked with squares and triangles and other shapes.
The possibility of SCSD#1 establishing a softball team was discussed, and the board voted to explore other options for the proposed softball team.
As this was Superintendent Pete Kilbride’s last school board meeting, and Board chairman Clint Krumm thanked Kilbride for his service to the district, thanking him for a ‘wonderful job.’ Kilbride has been teaching for 33 years.
Kilbride responded saying,
He said he is really looking forward to being retired, and he added that the district has been a ‘really good team’ to work with.
