cvannoyThe Tongue River High School Gym was packed with parents and well-wishers at the TRHS graduation held Thursday, May 25 in Dayton.
Alberto Spotted gave the welcome speech, and the TRHS choir students Liz Heser and Azariah Kennedy sang, “For Good” by Stephen Schwartz.
Class motto was, “No one is born a winner or a loser, but each is born a chooser.” The class flower was the moss rose, and after each graduate was awarded their diploma, they presented a flower to their parents. The class song was “Brand New,” by Ben Rector.
TRHS Principal Colby Lynch made the honor cord presentation and introduced the honored speakers, Faith Whitehead and Wyatt Charlson.
Whitehead is member of the national honor society, student council volleyball, basketball and track team. She plans to attend Utah State University and pursue a degree in finance.
She talked about some of the challenges they survived during their years at TRHS
She said that each person makes a different in the world.
She talked about the classes she took, and how she may not remember all the learning, she remembered the teachers and how they affected her.
Wyatt Charlson is a member of FFA and the National Honor Society and earned an AA in Ag Business from Sheridan college. He plans to continue his education at the University of Wyoming. He talked about his years at TRHS.
The Keynote Speaker was Coach Steve Hanson, who told the students that he was lucky to work with each and every one of them over the years.
Several Hathaway Merit Scholarships, valued at $262,080, were awarded to TRHS students.
SCSD#1 Superintendent Pete Kilbride then presented the diplomas and Lynch presented the class of 2023. Tassels were turned and mortarboards thrown into the air at the end of the graduation ceremony.
