Sheridan College Graduation Held on Saturday

The 74th Graduating Class of 2023 Sheridan College Graduation was held on Saturday May 13 at Sheridan College. The national anthem was performed by Amanda Cahhal, Madisyn A. Danforth and Blessing Okanigbaun.

The grand marshal was Mark Thoney, faculty senate president. The processional was performed the Whitney Way Stompers, directed by Dr. Eric Richards.

President Dr. Walter Tribley gave the welcome and introduced the college board trustees.

He talked about the 2023 Distinguished Alumni, Zane Garstad, who has been a star bull rider and Sheridan College Rodeo Coach. He has worked on the WYO Rodeo board, and the Gold Buckle Club as well as other boards around Sheridan.

He presented the president’s award to Rachel Kay Simons. He said she had been involved in the college and community service while earning her degree in dental hygiene and a four-year degree from the University of Wyoming.

The commencement address was given by Rosie Berger, who was the first person in her family to receive a college degree, and she has served seven terms in Wyoming’s House of Representatives. She managed and co-owned Sheridan’s Brittain World Travel for 18 years and served as President of the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce.

She said she wanted several things in life.

She also talked about taking a ‘leap of faith’

She had this advice for the graduates.

The degrees were conferred upon the graduating class, and Mrs. Jen Crouse talked about the tassel turning ceremony, and tassels were turned signifying the gradates step from college into the world.

The recessional was a musical tribute to the graduates.
