The last of the five entrances to the Nation’s First National Park will soon open to motor vehicle traffic.

The south entrance to Yellowstone National Park is scheduled to open Friday, May 12th as well as every road on the south side of the park that has not yet opened.

The East entrance opened last week, the West entrance opened about three weeks ago and the north and northeast entrances are open year-round.

The park advises motorists that various road construction projects are underway, and to be prepared for delays.

Such projects include the highway between West Thumb and Old Faithful, the Lewis River Bridge, which is about 10 miles north of the South entrance, and the Gardner River Bridge, just east of Mammoth Hot Springs.

The road that goes over Dunraven Pass, which is on the northeast side of the park, is still closed and isn’t scheduled to open until Memorial Day weekend, along with the Beartooth Highway.
