Sheridan is scheduled to be a soccer showcase this weekend, depending on the weather.
Aside from the high school regional tournament going on at Sheridan High School, the Big Horn Equestrian Center will be hosting the annual Bighorn Mountain Cup all day this coming Saturday and Sunday (May 13th and 14th).
About 150 teams with ages ranging from elementary school to 15 years old will be participating.
Normally a soccer game is 11-on-11, but depending on the age and the number of players available, that may not always be the case.
Jessica Barnes is a Co-Event Organizer.
She says there will be about 270 matches during the weekend event, and it’s hard to top having the Bighorn Mountains in the background while kicking the ball around.
“It’s a beautiful place. Why not? I think it’s the best tournament during the season in the state. Everybody can be in one spot. It’s just nice to also bring in something else to support the community, coming into the summer months too and coming out of winter.”
For those traveling to the Equestrian Center, County Road 28, or Bird Farm Road, will be closed to northbound traffic during some of the morning hours on Saturday and Sunday, so that motorists traveling to the event have an easier time getting in.
