Only three more Casual Conversations programs remain before the monthly presentation breaks for summer hiatus.

The monthly program at The Hub on Smith Street is a staple of the Sheridan County Museum, with the next program scheduled for March 11.

Museum Executive Director Mikayla Larrow recently provided a sneak preview of presenter Helen Laumann’s topic for that talk.

Larrow said after next month, Laumann will present programs in April and May, then stop for the summer.

Larrow said Laumann works with various organizations throughout the state, including the University of Wyoming, museums and other sources to put together the information for her Conversations. She said Laumann does a lot of research and also works with private citizens in Sheridan County to gather information.

But, she said, Laumann chooses the topics for her Conversations. She said Laumann also listens to feedback from her audience, and last year, for example, the Sheridan Inn was a topic of a couple of Conversations because of the Inn’s popularity.

Larrow said Laumann is currently the longest-serving members on the board of the Sheridan County Historical Society. The historical society operates the museum, and Larrow said Laumann has been part of the museum story for a long time.
