Suspected Burglar Arraigned on 20 Counts

A man arrested in March for a string of burglaries from vehicles in Sheridan County was arraigned Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
After an investigation by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old William Holliday was arrested and charged with numerous counts of burglary for breaking into vehicles and stealing items from the vehicles. Holliday, at an arraignment hearing Thursday, pleaded not guilty to 20 counts of felony burglary. The alleged crimes occurred between December, 2022 and February, 2023. A week long jury trial and pretrial conference will be scheduled at a later date. Holliday’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court. Each count of burglary is punishable by up to 10 years and prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Holliday also faces six additional counts of burglary, as the State filed a motion to amend and have the additional charges sent to Circuit Court where a possible preliminary hearing will take place to address the charges. District Court Judge Darci Phillips granted the State’s motion to amend and said she would sign the order remanding the six additional counts to Circuit Court.
