cvannoySaturday, Feb. 18, is the kick-off day for National FFA Week, when FFA members throughout the country participate in speech competitions and host various events for their schools and their communities to bring awareness of the FFA and Agriculture. National FFA week ranges from 19 to 25.
Jhett West, President of the John B. Kendrick Chapter in Sheridan and Zoe Van Winkle, treasurer, talked about the up-coming events at Sheridan high school.
West added that in Sheridan during the FFA week they have several opportunities to spread a lot of awareness in FFA. One of the activities will be a fundraiser. West explains,

Other officers in the J.B. Kendrick chapter are Autumn Paustian, Vice President, and Emily Walton, Secretary. Advisor is Chaney Peterson.
The Tongue River FFA also has several activities planned, and Chapter President Colter Hanft talked about some of them.
Lily Krumm, VP, said she enjoyed the activities, and she shows Quarter Horses at the county fair and state fair with the FFA. She talked about FFA at TRHS.
Ricky Kelty who is the group sentinel, said that he was on the agriculture mechanics team, “We took 12th in state,” he said. “I was raised on a ranch, so what we do here can be applied to ranching.” In 2021 the agriculture mechanics team fromTongue River FFA took 8th in the nation.
Lamar Charlson, Treasurer of the Tongue River Chapter, talked about the reason for the activities.
Cole Kukuchka, chapter secretary said “I think it will be pretty cool, we try to do some fun stuff. A way to make people aware of the benefits of agriculture.”

Cabel Green, FFA Advisor of the Clear Creek FFA in Clearmont, talked about the upcoming events in Clearmont. There will be a donut day, where members make and serve donuts; there is a staff appreciation breakfast on the Feb. 21. Tuesday is dress-up day, and the members are urged to wear their official FFA jacket, and the chapter will also give presentations about agriculture to the students at Arvada/Clearmont Elementary then on Wednesday, 22nd at 6:30 p.m. there will be the speaking competition, in the multi-purpose room at the school. Green added about the reason for the week’s activities.
The Clear Creek FFA has around 30 members, with Will Betz, president; Shelby Fenema, vice president/secretary and Abbie Odegard, treasurer.
