The AARP is offering Community Challenge Grants to communities to complete projects and make immediate improvements.
AARP Wyoming State President Stella Montano and Wyoming Outreach Manager Jen Baier, made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program to inform listeners about the grants and how the Sheridan community has utilized these funds in the past, to include improvements made to Malcolm Wallop Park.
According to AARP, this year, the AARP Community Challenge is accepting applications across three different grant opportunities, two of which are new for 2023.
Flagship Grants focus on improving public places; transportation; housing; diversity, equity and inclusion; digital connections; community resilience; civic engagement; and community health and economic empowerment.
New in 2023, Capacity-Building Microgrants will include additional resources provided by leading nonprofit organizations. AARP will fund projects that improve walkability and community gardens.
Also new in 2023, through Demonstration Grants, AARP will fund projects that build capacity towards transportation systems change and build awareness of new housing options through accessory dwelling unit design competitions.
