Dog and Cat Shelter donations

The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter operates primarily through grants and donations. Many of those donations are in the form of blankets, towels and sheets that families in Sheridan no longer need.

The donations are appreciated and critical to the shelter. Dog beds and blankets not only provide warmth to the animals but also a level of comfort while they wait in the shelter for a new home.

During a recent appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Executive Director AJ Evans told listeners that she directed staff to begin a major clean-up operation, removing many items that are donated but not used by the shetler. Some items were given to individuals who adopted a pet, giving them the tools needed for proper pet care as opposed to spending more money at the store. For items that could not be given to new pet owners, the shelter recently held a garage sale earning approximately $600 that will go back into the shelter for the care of animals.

The work paid off and now the shelter staff have more room to accept items that the shelter will put to use. Recently the shelter suffered a catastrophic loss of their washers and dryers. Resulting in the loss of many blankets and towels.

Evans told listeners that any donation is greatly appreciated, but the need for storage room has required her to direct her staff in being a little more choosy on what they take from donors.

The shelter will gladly accept donations in the form of treats, towels, dog beds and blankets.
