cvannoyThere will be a Trunk-or-Treat in the parking lot of the Clear Creek Recreation District on Halloween night from 6-8 p.m., the Recreation District building will be open those hours on Halloween.
Trunk-or-Treats was originally started to give a dedicated space for trick or treating, instead of going from house to house. Participants usually decorate their car trunks and pass out candy from their vehicle.
According to Amy Rowe, Clear Creek Rec District Administrative Assistant, they are hosting this to give youngsters that live out of town or across the train tracks a place to see all the fun costumes that are out there.
One of the goals of the Clear Creek Recreation District is to promote community and youth, so this fun Halloween gathering hits both!
She added that at other trunk-or-treats she’s been to have had all kinds of vehicles, so all are welcome. They do ask that if participants choose to decorate their trunks or vehicles that they keep in mind that small children do trick or treat in our town.
“Decorated trunks are fun,” Rowe said, but are not required. “Just bring yourself and a bag of candy to pass out!”
Everyone is welcome to join them in the parking lot to greet trick or treaters. Last year, Rowe said “I personally had 38 kids of all ages at my house, so I’m sure there will be a lot out.”
If the weather is too terrible, they will move the festivities into the old gym. The idea for the trunk-or-treat was put forth by the participants in Tressa Lawrence’s Yoga class. The class is every Monday at the Rec Center from 7 to 8 pm.
The Clearmont Historical Group is also encouraging all businesses along Front Street, which is the main road through Clearmont, to join in the Halloween festivities. They are planning Treat Street and will be handing out candy from 6 to 8 there. Spivey will be there again, so Trick or Treat if you dare.
The Clearmont Women’s Club will be having a Jack O’Lantern contest on Halloween night as well. Pumpkins will be displayed at the trunk or treat. Entrants can drop off their carved pumpkins at the center starting at 6 p.m. Judging will be at 7, with prizes for the top three pumpkins. The contest is open to all ages and there is no entry fee.
