Aaron PalmerThe contract between Johnson County and the Wyoming State Department of Corrections to house offenders in the county facility has been renewed by the county commission.
The previous contract was for three years and will continue for another three years after its acceptance.
It specifies that the county will continue to house up to 10 inmates at a time and receive $70 per day per inmate from the DOC.
Sheriff Rod Odenbaugh told the commissioners they will be seeking an increase in the daily rate in the next fiscal year.
The rate they will ask for will be $80 per day, according to Odenbach.
The county attorney’s office did review the contract and had no issues with it.
