AARP Wyoming will host a free paper shredding event from 10 am to 1 pm at the Campbell County Senior Center in Gillette on October 8. The shred fest is an opportunity to stay one step ahead of identity thieves by shredding personal and financial documents. Residents can bring up to two large boxes of paper for shredding. The shred event is a drive-through contactless event. Anyone is welcome to bring their documents regardless of age or AARP affiliation. Organizers ask that those interested register for the event in advance. You can register here.

To avoid having your sensitive information compromised, security experts recommend shredding old documents or papers that carry your Social Security number, birth date, signature, account numbers, passwords or PINs, any canceled or unused checks, deposit slips and ATM and credit card receipts, pre-approved credit card applications, unneeded medical bills, investment account statements and any expired driver’s licenses, medical insurance cards and passports.
