Sheridan City Council Passes Resolution on Columbarium Fees

At Monday night’s Sheridan City Council meeting, the council discussed a resolution that would amend the Master Fee Schedule to include Columbarium Niche Fees and also set a $100 opening and closing fee for the Municipal Cemetery.
According to the resolution, demand has grown for additional opportunities to meet the needs of the cremation market at cemeteries, temples, and churches.
In response, the City of Sheridan purchased its first Columbarium to be placed at the cemetery.
The total cost of the Columbarium, site preparation, concrete base and setting was just under $31,000.
Sheridan Parks Director Steve Gage spoke to the council concerning the Columbarium, the niche fee and opening and closing fee.
As explained by Gage, the typical charge for an interment in the Columbarium would be $1,000 for the niche and $100 for the opening and closing for a total of $1,100 for the burial.
The Columbarium is a 48 niche, granite structure where inurned remains can be kept.
Each niche can hold two urns.
The council voted to approve the changes to the fee schedule.
