The Sheridan Memorial Hospital is attempting to make improvements to make sure patients don’t spread their condition to others within the building.

The Hospital Board of Trustees voted to apply for an ARPA grant from the State Loan and investment Board to help fund a number of projects, including improving the inpath and crisis stabilization unit and expanding the hospital’s materials and supply chain space.

Another project the hospital would like to work on is to improve patient flow in front of the emergency department to make sure patients are being triaged properly and create an area to segregate contagious patients from non-contagious patients.

Hospital President Mike McCafferty explains why the board chose these particular projects to work on.

“All of these projects are capital improvements associated with any future type of contagen or pandemic outbreak that we might have so we’re very focused on this opportunity.”

The SLIB Board is scheduled to meet sometime in August.
