Wyoming Unemployment Rate Remains Steady

The state’s unemployment rate of 3.7% went unchanged in December although year over year, the rate fell in 17 counties and rose in 6 according to the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. Sheridan and Johnson county both saw decreases from December of 2018 to December of 2019 but both were slightly above the rates in November of 2019. Sheridan County’s December rate was 3.3% and Johnson County was marked at 3.6% unemployment. 

The lowest unemployment rate for the final month of the last decade was in Weston County with 2.5% followed by albany at 2.7%. The highest rates were found in Sublette and Fremont Counties at 4.9% and 4.7% respectively. Total nonfarm employment in Wyoming year over year decreased by 1.2%, a decline of 3,500 jobs.
