First lady Gordon’s initiative delivers 1,400 pounds of beef to Sheridan County

First lady Jenny Gordon’s Wyoming Hunger Initiative delivered 1,400 lbs of beef to The Hub on Smith on June 28.
The Wyoming Hunger Initiative seeks to build greater awareness and increase collaboration and participation in the fight against childhood hunger. The organization’s mission is to end hunger and food insecurity throughout the Cowboy State.
According to The Hub on Smith, the meat, worth over $50,000, will be distributed to several nonprofits throughout Sheridan County. Recipients include: The Hub on Smith, Lunch Together Soup Kitchen, Ranchester Community Cupboard, Salvation Army, Sheridan College General’s Pantry, Story-Banner Community Food Pantry, and The Food Group.
The Wyoming Hunger Initiative partners with local organizations, like The Hub on Smith, to share resources and offer support in order to achieve its mission.

My question is 1400 pounds of beef valued at OVER $50,000??? Does anyone else question those numbers?
and yes, I do hope it was from a Wyoming rancher.

1400lbs of beef worth $50,000? Do the math. That’s over $35.lb.

I don’t feel that is the point. Many in our community are being fed. That is good news any way you look at it.
