Although the Johnson County Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum in Buffalo will temporarily close to the public for the month of February, staff and volunteers will be busy behind the scenes getting caught up on work that has been put off but needs completed.

Museum Director Sylvia Bruner said one task will be changing out smaller exhibits within the main galleries.

Each gallery has an overall theme relevant to Johnson County history, but items and exhibits are periodically changed out to keep them fresh and to protect individual items.

Bruner said they won’t have the process completed by the time they reopen in March, and she explains why that is by design.

The museum will reopen to the public on Monday, March 2nd.
