Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns is gearing up to host the Annual Women’s Build.
Habitat for Humanity offers this build as a way to learn new skills, or brush up on old ones, in a safe environment. No experience in the construction field is necessary, and participants will complete a task they are comfortable with performing while helping to construct a home for a Sheridan family.
The Women’s Build will take place June 21 – 25, and does not exclude men, but is about encouraging women to become empowered to participate and show what they can accomplish when working construction as a team.
The build has adapted to span over a five day period. Executive Director Christine Dieterich told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program the logic behind the change.
Participants must be 16 years of age or older. Each participant is encouraged to raise a minimum of $100, but any donation will be accepted. Teams can be created of up to 10 people and are asked to raise $500. All donations are due by June 30, and can be sent through the team website or by sending the donations to the Habitat for Humanity office.
Businesses and teams are encouraged to use this as a team building opportunity while also building a home for a local Sheridan family.
