During the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce Lunch Program, Post Legislative Session Lunch, Wyoming House District 40 Rep. Barry Crago (R), joined his regional legislative colleagues to give a report of the happenings and results of the 2022 Wyoming Legislative Budget Session.
In attendance with Crago were Sen. Dave Kinskey (R), Sen. Bo Biteman (R) , Rep. Cyrus Western (R) and Rep. Mark Jennings (R). Rep. Mark Kinner (R), was unable to attend the luncheon but sent his gratitude to Chamber members.
Crago told those in attendance that the local lawmakers worked well together, both before and during the budget session on bills that affect Sheridan and Johnson Counties, including the redistricting bill. Local lawmakers devoted major efforts to ensure that residents in Arvada and Clearmont were retained with local representation. Those communities are now part of Crago’s House District 40.
Crago also spoke on bills that he sponsored and supported through the legislative process. This included HB0017, authorizing the State Board of Land Commissioners to lease state lands surrounding specified veterans’ facilities only for the grazing of stock.
Although the state coffers were much more flush than in years past, Crago and his colleagues commented on the fiscally conservative approach that was taken this budget session by lawmakers.
