Buffalo Police Chief Details 2019 Accomplishments

Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder recently gave a year-end review of his department’s achievements to the city council.

In his written report, Chief Carder said there were many challenges during the year.

He said the most visible part of their work is fighting crime, handling traffic violations, assisting on medical calls and responding to other emergencies, but he is proud of the “behind-the-scenes” accomplishments that make the town an ideal place to live.

In addition to the D.A.R.E. Program; Operation Blue Santa; and Freshman Impact; the department worked special events including Longmire Days and Fair and Rodeo.

They have added Seth Hoblit, Abby Wilson, and AJ Jenness to the dispatch team; Dani Guyton switched to animal control; and Tucker Leibee joined the patrol division.

Overall for the year there wer just over 14,000 community calls for police service during 2019; almost 37,500 calls handled by dispatch, including 3,000 911 calls; nearly 1,000 animal complaints were addressed; and 211 traffic accidents were investigated.

Chief Carder also said DUI arrests increased during the year due to proactive 24/7 patrols.
