Sheridan Man Sentenced in Federal Court on Methamphetamine and Firearm Charges

United States Attorney for the District of Wyoming Bob Murray announced Monday that 35-year-old Adam Godwin of Sheridan was recently sentenced for being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm and for possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine at a hearing held before Federal District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal.
Godwin was sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison and three years of supervised release, to be served concurrently to a state sentence, and ordered to pay a $200 assessment. According to the Department of Justice, on April 13, 2021, agents with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in Sheridan to locate Godwin and execute an outstanding state arrest warrant. While executing the warrant officers recovered 2.1 ounces of methamphetamine and a firearm.
Godwin pled guilty to the charges on December 15, 2021. This crime was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jonathon Coppom.
