One could say that Hans Mercer has been training for his position as Sheridan City Engineer since he was a young boy. His father worked construction and often took Mercer and his brother to work. On the job sites, tucked safely off to the side, Mercer and his brother would stay busy by building city streets for their toy cars and trucks.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Mercer told listeners the piece of advice his father gave him that would lead him to become Sheridan’s City Engineer.
The City of Sheridan Engineering Department is planning for a busy year of construction. Eighteen projects are tentatively scheduled for the 2021 year.
According to the City’s Capital Improvement Program, Sheridan’s accounting system has three fund categories: General Fund, Special Revenue Funds and Enterprise Funds. The majority of the City’s capital projects are funded through Special Revenue Funds and/or the Enterprise Funds. These Funds have limitations on their use and are not universally available for every type of project. This distinction is important to consider as projects are prioritized with funding availability in mind.
The CIP acts as a guide, prioritizing projects that need to be completed for the city to function as well as outlining beautification and recreation projects.
Although many of these projects do not yet have a set date to begin, the list of projects and their tentative starting dates can be found below.
