The Sheridan Hawks faced off against the Gillette Wild in a high-stakes home playoff match on Saturday, which saw an intense and physical first period with numerous penalties for both teams. By the end of the first period, the Hawks had taken 4 shots on goal, while the Wild had 11.
In spite of the Hawks’ aggressive play, it was the Wild who managed to score the only goal of the period, making the score 1-0 in favor of Gillette.
The second period saw a more even matchup, with the Hawks taking 10 shots on goal compared to the Wild’s 25. However, it was the Hawks who managed to find the back of the net this time, with Ryan McKenna scoring the equalizer to tie the game at 1-1.
Going into the third period, the game remained tied with the Hawks taking 18 shots on goal and the Wild taking 36 shots. Both teams continued to battle it out, but the score remained unchanged, sending the game into overtime.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, they were unable to secure the win in overtime, ultimately falling to the Wild. The final score of the game was 2-1 in favor of Gillette.
The Sheridan Hawks have wrapped up their season, and although it may not have ended with the desired outcome, fans are eagerly anticipating their return for the next season.
