Undersheriff Levi Dominguez has announced he will run for the office of Sheridan County Sheriff in 2022.
Sheridan County Sheriff Allen Thompson announced today that he will not seek re-election for the office in the coming year. In a letter, Thompson endorsed Domiguez and sighted the Undersheriff’s extensive public service record.
For the past four years, Dominguez has served as Undersheriff for the department. In the letter announcing he will not seek reelection, Thompson wrote how he had tutored Dominguez during that time.
Dominguez grew up in the Tongue River Valley, graduated from Tongue River High School then attended and graduated from Montana State University-Billings. After returning home, Dominguez initially served Sheridan County residents as a firefighter and paramedic before moving onto a career in law enforcement in 2014 with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office. Dominguez has served in public safety for 18 years.

____________________________________________________
As most of you know, I am currently the Sheridan County Undersheriff and have served in the role as undersheriff since early 2019. I am in my 18th year in public safety and began serving as a first responder in 2003 initially in EMS, fire, and now law enforcement. I enjoy getting the opportunity to interact with the community daily while building and maintaining relationships and partnerships with various organizations and agencies within the county.
I grew up in the Tongue River Valley, graduated from Tongue River High School and attended and graduated from Montana State University-Billings. I returned home and initially served Sheridan County residents as a Firefighter/Paramedic before moving onto a career in law enforcement in 2014 with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office.
Outside my career in public safety, I was elected and served as a Sheridan City Councilor serving on various boards including the Juvenile Justice Board. I am a 2013 Sheridan CIVIC Leadership graduate and currently serve on the Sheridan Youth Baseball board and I’m also a member of the Big Horn Lions Club. My wife Melissa and I have two boys, Will and Brody, who are very active and we enjoy exploring the Bighorn Mountains with our dog, Dudley. My family is an important facet of why I have been successful in my 18-year career in public safety which has given me the opportunity to teach Family Survival as a guest instructor at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy to every Peace Officer Basic class. The class helps prepare new law enforcement officers and their families for a life as a first responder family.
I am beyond grateful for Sheriff Thompson’s guidance, leadership, and service to Sheridan County and am hopeful he’ll get to enjoy his retirement. Sheridan County will benefit years to come because of Allen’s leadership and community involvement. I’m excited and humbled for this opportunity to serve Sheridan County, continue a community-oriented approach in serving the residents and visitors of Sheridan County, and support and facilitate career and leadership development for our staff at the sheriff’s office.
— Respectfully, Levi Dominguez
