After what was thought to be two-and-a-half to three years of work, the Johnson County Rural Health Care District Board passed and accepted the final draft of their bylaws during their meeting this week.

The bylaws spell out the name of the district, it’s purpose, general duties and powers, and identifies procedures for election of trustees, bonds, oaths of office, and many other necessities of doing business for the county.

The board discussed the Medical Director’s contract with Dr. Mark Schueler.

Also discussed was the district’s HIPAA Policy, which was approved by the board at their last meeting, with changes approved after review by Civil Deputy County Attorney Barry Crago.

According to hipaahq.com, HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, or HIPAA Act for short.

It is a US privacy law to protect medical information like patients records and allow for confidential communication between patients and medical professionals.
