Sheridan Memorial Hospital will hold a free drive-up Cholesterol Screening next Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m.

The event is part of the hospital’s heart failure education program.

Those who want to be screened are asked to drive up to the tent that will be on the north side of the hospital just outside the cafeteria. They should wear face coverings and remain in their vehicles.

According to a news release from the hospital, the screening will involve a simple finger prick done by a healthcare professional.

The results, which indicate a person’s total cholesterol, will be available immediately and will be given to each individual. The results can then be taken to the individual’s healthcare provider.

According to the news release, information will also be provided regarding understanding the symptoms of heart disease and how to make lifestyle changes to manage cholesterol.

Hospital personnel say the drive-up cholesterol screening isn’t the same as a Wellness Panel. A Wellness Panel involves a blood draw and provides 29 different tests, including cholesterol levels.
