Pat BlairSheridan College will host a free information session on the Certified Nursing Assistant course at the college’s Broadway Center next week.
The session is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. next Monday in Room 134. The Center is at 245 Broadway.
The CNA course, which prepares students for entry-level employment in the healthcare field, will start on Aug. 24 at the college.
The information session will show attendees how becoming a CNA can launch a rewarding career in health care, as well as providing class requirements and costs for the class. For attendees’ safety, social distancing measures will be in place, hand sanitizer will be available, and face coverings are encouraged for those who attend.
The Sheridan College CNA course consists of seven weeks of online learning followed by five days of in-person labs and onsite clinicals. Students will attain the skills and knowledge they need to take the certification examinations administered by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing that are required to become a CNA.
The course is accredited and will prepare students for employment at hospitals, long-term care facilities and home-care services. In addition, according to CNA instructor Elizabeth Maguire, the course can be a great way for a student to gain experience in healthcare before pursuing further education.
