Some current and future Sheridan County pre-schoolers will soon have a new place where they can learn and play.
The Sheridan County Child Development Center has announced it has purchased the Old First Light Children’s Center property and is in the process of moving all of its operations to their new facility.
Currently the CDC conducts its operations at both the main office on Linden Avenue and holds classes at its building on South Sheridan Avenue.
Marsha Riley is the executive director of the CDC in both Sheridan and Johnson Counties.
She says the new facility will give the youngsters more room to play and to learn in both new and more ways.
“We know that this will enhance kids’ activities. We can do activities we have not done before. We can have children really getting into more specific activities and more activities perhaps that will give them more room to do physical activities.”
First Light ceased operations a little more than 1 year ago.
Current students at the Sheridan CDC will have their first day of class in the new building on February 12th.
Riley adds once operations have settled in, management will look into the possibility of taking in more students in future school years.
