The City of Buffalo Police Department was awarded a Small, Rural, and Tribal (SRT) law enforcement agency grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance to purchase 12 body cameras for their officers.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Mayor of Buffalo, Shane Schrader told the public the grant is a 50/50 match.
In October of this year, BPD Chief Sean Bissett told the Buffalo City Council that each camera costs approximately $2,000 amounting to a total of $24,000 for the initial cost of implementing the body cameras to the officers on patrol.
Schrader said the cameras will aid in law enforcement and training.

Schrader also said he appreciates the protections offered by the cameras to all parties involved with law enforcement interactions and showed his appreciation to city and county law enforcement personnel.
