Have you ever wanted to write a Broadway musical?
Sheridan College and Ucross are excited to present a Master Class with Steven Lutvak, who composed the music for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder," at Sheridan College in Room W129 on Friday, December 3, at 1 p.m.
Steven will play music, tell stories, share “secrets of the trade,” and offer tips to the next generation of rising stars, including several Sheridan College students who will perform Broadway tunes. Steven is an alumnus of Ucross, the prestigious artist residency program located on a historic 20,000-acre ranch 30 miles from Sheridan. He is the only composer to have won the Jonathan Larson Award (named after the creator of the hit musical "Rent") twice. Currently, Steven is at work on two new musicals headed for Broadway and the movie adaptation of "A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder." The Master Class is free and open to the public; no need to register in advance. Sheridan Fulmer Library and Gravity Performing Arts Center will host a Christmas carol and craft program at the Fulmer Public Library on Saturday, December 11 at 3 p.m. Children ages 2 – 10 will sing classic Christmas carols and make corresponding crafts with Miss Chantelle from Gravity Performing Arts Center. Miss Chantelle has over 15 years of educational and music experience. After becoming a mother in 2015, Chantelle decided to combine her passions for music and education to create her own Mommy & Me Music program and share it with her community, both in-person and online. She has been perfecting her craft for the past 6 years while raising her two children as a stay-at-home parent. This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Fireworks, caroling, treats — Ucross invites the community to the nonprofit's 9th annual Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 11, beginning at 4 p.m. sharp. As always, bestselling author and longtime Ucross neighbor Craig Johnson will read a new Christmas story. This year's event will also include Christmas carols by the Buffalo Balladiers, a piano performance by Ebenezer Eferobor, crafts for children, festive refreshments, and more. The festivities will culminate at 6 p.m. in the lighting of thousands of Christmas tree lights, the firing of a cannon, and fireworks by Bruce Burns and crew. In the spirit of Christmas, guests are asked to bring canned and non-perishable food items, which will be donated to local community food pantries for families in need. Join The Hub on Smith and Sheridan Community Land Trust for our next Explore History program as we dive into the history of Women Who Influenced Southeastern Sheridan County. From homesteaders to women who owned businesses, this program will explore how women influenced the development of the southeastern Sheridan County area. Early women homesteaders were part of the development of a short-lived town named Huson as well as filing for their patent at a range of ages. The program will also have a focus on the Clearmont area and we will learn about women who were a mercantile owner, doctor and school teacher. Members of the Clearmont Historical Group and the Sheridan Community Land Trust Historical Program Manager, Carrie Edinger will co-present these fascinating stories through the early stages of southeastern Sheridan County.
